Birth*circa 1812 He was born circa 1812.
He was the son of Dickinson Culpepper of Warren Co., GA and Frances Wynn
1820 Census7 Aug 1820 Larkin and Jesse was probably a free white male, age under 10, in Dickinson Culpepper of Warren Co., GA's household, on the 1820 Census at Warren Co., Georgia. Otherwise unaccounted for is a Female 0-10..1
1830 Census1 Jun 1830 Jesse was probably a free white male, age 15 and under 20, in Dickinson Culpepper of Warren Co., GA's household, on the 1830 Census at Warren Co., Georgia. Otherwise unaccounted for is a Female 10-15..2
Marriage*say 1832 He married (?) (?) say 1832.
1860 Census*1 Jun 1860 Jesse was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census at Coweta Co., Georgia.3
Research note*31 May 2004 Jesse was previously ID: 5213 but was deleted in error and had to be recreated under this new number.

Jesse's parentage is currently unknown. He has been assigned to Dickinson because 1) the name Jesse occurs elsewhere in Dickinson's family, 2) Dickinson had four sons in 1820, according to the census that year, but only two others are known, and 3) Jesse was a grocery merchant, an occupation which occurs elsewhere in Dickinson's family. Jesse should have been on every census from 1840 to 1880 as a head of household, but at the moment he has only been found on the 1860 census. The current lack of records on him and his family makes it difficult to determine his parentage.

Estate records for Dickinson, if they could be found, might help establish the names of his children.

Tax records in Warren Co. GA might also be checked. 1849 and 1850 appear to the be earliest extant after 1840 (LDS Film 159189)

Note also that there is no proof that any of the younger people in Jesse's 1860 household are his children. It is possible that Jesse never married and/or that at least some, if not all, of these younger people are his siblings and/or cousins.
